funny tweets

OK, I love sarcastic humor and because I love Twitter, twitter.threadless.com is a new favorite hangout of mine. The following tweets just struck me as funny and several are already on t-shirts. Consider this one big RT :) :

  • @sween You say I’m coloring outside the lines. I say I’m making new lines.
  • @MyFrappaccino When God gives you melons, you know you’re dyslexic.
  • @Martiandrivein Twitter: Where it’s @
  • @hannaheartbrake If guns kill people, then spoons make people fat.
  • @leahclifford Can’t wait for the day I wake and all the trending topics on Twitter are zombie related. Because I’ll know what it means. And I’ll be ready.
  • @Khanvict23 If you give a person a fish you feed them for a day, teach a person to use Twitter and they won’t bother you for weeks.
  • @SdotFOSTER I’ve never seen anyone’s death certificate suggest the cause of death was breaking a chain letter…
  • @miconian There are people I want to unfollow who aren’t even on Twitter.
  • @moorsee Dance like nobody’s watching. Tweet like nobody’s following.
  • @secretsquirrel Life would be easier if you could mark people as spam.
  • @jdtatum No one has twittered in 6 minutes. I can only assume that all of my friends are dead.
  • @cleversimon I’m with @stupid.
  • @Tony_D Sadly, my day requires pants.
  • @nintechno I wish I could CTRL+ALT+DEL people.
  • @GaryJBusey I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance by fleeing the scene of an accident.
  • @Khanvict23 Wondering if its cool in China to get English words tattooed on their arms.
  • @nodabear89 It’s not @you…it’s @me
  • @IamMPB I’d damn you to hell, but I work there and don’t want to see you 5 days a week.
  • @Skittle_Brains I always misread “Marital Status” as “Martial Status” on forms. Which confuses me even more when there isn’t a “Ninja” check box.
  • @Nottabadword I’m consistent, just not all the time.

teens don’t twitter-yet

Read an interesting article on Bloomberg.com (via @melfi) entitled “Morgan Stanley Intern Says Teens Don’t Twitter, Prefer Events.”

While I understand the premise, my guess is that teens haven’t found how Twitter can actually fuel the instant gratification they seem to crave as well as the freebies they want. Maybe they haven’t discovered that many of their music idols Tweet regularly and many times include links to content that they may not get otherwise. For example, Eminem (@eminem) did a whole promotion of his new album on Twitter. And here is one post from him from June 2, 2009 about freebie tickets to a show:

I left 40 passes for tonight’s DJ Hero show at Undftd. on LaBrea in LA. First come, first serve. Cop some kicks while you are there. GO!”

Sure, sometimes it is an assistant posting and not the celebrity, but people pick up on those pretty quick.

Also, with Twitter being so mobile and almost a subset of the texting world, it would seem a natural fit for teens to receive and send micro-bursts of info. Plus, as companies get savvy about addressing contests geared toward teens like they have been with other segments – can you say “squarespace iPhone giveaway?” – I’m sure teens will swarm to Twitter. I see Twitter as being a teen marketing nirvana in the not-so-distant future.

It will most likely be a matter of time before the teen set gets bored with Facebook and makes the jump to Twitter. As I always say, Twitter is Facebook for the ADHD crowd. Then again, I’m a bit out of the teen years so what do I know?!

“raindrops on roses…”

“whiskers on kittens…” Yes, these are a few of my favorite things:

  • Lying on the dock, watching the fish float by, seeing the occasional loon bob up and down again – total serenity

  • The internet…questions answered at the speed of light
  • Twitter…the latest technology that has actually kept my interest primarily because I have found so much good information via the tweets…follow quality people you get quality tweets…
  • My daughter’s soccer team and the parents of those girls…even when they lose we all have a great time…

stumbleupon

Dreary day…gonna rain…daughter has soccer tournament later today which figures…c’est la vie…just hoping the girls get it together and play well today and tomorrow – they’ve been struggling this week and seem to have forgotten some fundamentals like not bringing the ball up the sides…

Discovered, via Twitter, some great Firefox add-ons…been using StumbleUpon and loving it to discover new sites and also bookmark sites I want to use as a reference. I like that it is web-based because I can add from work and from home…easier than Twitter for bookmarking for my purposes anyway.

Until soccer time, the day is slated for long overdue domestic activity…vacuuming…dusting…general cleaning…I think I’ll need more coffee…
